In our previous guide, we shared you detailed steps to assign Microsoft 365 license to Azure AD users. Now moving a step forward, we’ll show you how to deploy Windows 10 Enterprise license via Microsoft 365 subscription. Well, if you’ve Windows 10 V1703 or later, your system supports subscription based license. This enables users to step-up their edition, so the Pro edition can be upgraded to Enterprise edition.
Such a deployment can be performed without any key or reboot. The devices need to fulfill following requirements:
- The devices should have Windows 10 V1703 or later.
- You must Windows 10 Enterprise E5 or E3 or Microsoft 365 E5 or E3 license that is assigned to Azure AD clients.
- The devices should have Pro edition installed with proper and valid license (only in V1703 and V1709). If you’ve V1803 or later, you’ll get machine Windows 10 Enterprise activated using the firmware-embedded activation key.
- If you’ve Windows 10 with Enterprise edition activated using a license, you can use this guide to convert it to subscription based Windows 10 Enterprise.
- You must have Azure AD identity.
- Your Windows 10 should be Azure AD or Hybrid Azure AD joined.
If your system or environment meets above requirements, you can deploy Windows 10 Enterprise license subscription.
Deploy Windows 10 Enterprise License To Azure AD Clients
1. Assign the Microsoft 365 license to Azure AD users or groups.
2. Confirm that you’ve Windows 10 Pro edition activated on the device:
3. Use the guide to join your Windows 10 to Azure AD. Once your device is Azure AD joined, you’re almost ready to deploy the Windows 10 Enterprise.
4. Now log out of local account and sign in to Azure AD account ([email protected]) format. In sometime, Windows 10 Enterprise subscription should be active on the device as you can see in below screenshot.
