Microsoft Edge (Chromium) is a new browser that provides you competitive features. It uses the open-source Chromium engine that is used by Google Chrome. By switching to this engine, Microsoft has improved this browser in its performance. There are many advanced features Microsoft Edge is now offering to users. In this article, we will talk about one such feature. So we’ll see how you can block notifications on specific sites in Microsoft Edge.

Basically when you visit a website in new Microsoft Edge, if that website can offer notifications, you will be asked to allow or block them, as shown below.

If you click on Allow button, the notifications from respective website will be sent to you. These notifications will arrive as push notifications, as you can see in the screenshot below.

Method 1 – Using Microsoft Edge Settings

Follow these steps:

Open Microsoft Edge Chromium browser.

Click on and select Settings. In Settings, click on ☰ and then click on Cookies and site permissions. Alternatively, you can go to edge://settings/content.

In that screen, scroll and click on Notifications.

Then in the next screen, under Allow, locate the site on which you want to block notifications and click on next to it. In the context menu, click Block.

Method 2 – Using Registry

Registry Disclaimer: If you’re not comfortable in editing registry, create a System Restore point first.
  1. Open Registry Editor.
  2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge.
  3. Create a sub-key to Edge and name it as NotificationsBlockedForUrls. In the right pane of NotificationsBlockedForUrls, create a registry string with name 1 and use its Value data as site URL for which you want to block notifications. To block another website, create registry with name 2 and go on. Note that, to block all subdomains from a website, you can use wildcard entry, for example, [*.]example.com.

After you configure the registry settings, restart your system to make changes effective.
